Stroke Play Golf Tournament
The Tournament will be 56 Hole Stableford Scoring Individual Competition
Rather than counting the total number of strokes taken as in typical stroke play golf, a Modified Stableford involves scoring points based on the number of strokes taken at each hole. Good play earns points and poor play takes away points. Unlike traditional scoring methods, where the aim is to have the lowest score, the objective in a Modified Stableford is to have the highest score. The number of points awarded on each hole is determined based on a comparison of the number of strokes to par. Once a player has taken two strokes more than par, a double bogey, they may pick up their ball as it is then not possible to score any points on that hole and he cannot lose any additional points. They can then resume play on the next hole.
Scoring at the 2019 Cabo Open will look like this:
• Double Eagle: 8 points
• Eagle: 5 points
• Birdie: 3 points
• Par: 1 points
• Bogey: 0 point
• Double Bogey or more: -2 points
Competitors: Each competitor plays as an individual.
Divisions: There are three divisions – Open Division, Womens Division, Senior Division. A Player that is 50+ is allowed to compete in the Open division, but a player that is under 50 is not allowed to compete in the Senior division.
Flights: Each Division has three flights. A-Flight, B-Flight and C-Flight
Flight Handicaps: Individual Handicaps will be calculated at 90% of the Competitors Handicap Index
A-Flight is for Individuals with an Index of 7.9 and below.
B-Flight is for Individuals with an Index of 8 to 14.9,
C-Flight is for Individuals with an Index of 15.0 - 21.9 (Max Handicap Index 24)
Flight Scoring: Scoring within each flight will be NET based off 90% of Handicap Index - Meaning Competitors will receive handicap strokes competing within their flight.
